Control criteria (ZPKK03)

NoCriterionWhat is checked?Rest
0PreparationAfter checking the general information of the facility to be measured (measurement date, weather conditions, soil conditions, etc.), it is determined whether the facility has a grounding project and whether the lightning protection type is ESE type (active, radioactive), Franklin rod type, or Faraday cage type; it is also stated whether natural components in the building (reinforcement steel in reinforced concrete, steel structure, etc.) are used in the system. A radioactive warning sign should also be looked for on lightning rods suspected of being radioactive; if such a situation is detected, a non-compliance report should be prepared as it is contrary to the Atomic Energy Authority circular.TS EN 62305
1Suitability of the lightning protection system in the context of the coverage area it provides protection for.A lightning protection risk analysis is requested from the employer to determine the lightning protection level; the coverage area is checked according to the protection angle and building height at that protection level. A non-compliance rating is issued in case of an arbitrary protection radius.TS EN 62305-2 Clause 5
2Physical suitability of the lightning protection system installation (capture, reduction, grounding installations).Checks are performed according to the type of lightning protection: Early Current Emitting (ESE) type, Franklin rod, Faraday cage, or natural components.TS EN 62305-3 Clause 5

If the building is entirely steel construction, a catching terminal and down conductor are not required. In structures covered with sandwich panels, if the thermal insulation material is not rock wool, it should be checked that it is considered flammable in the risk analysis.TS EN 62305-3 Clause 5.3
35Is the grounding system resistance less than 10 Ω?The grounding resistance is measured using a method appropriate to the grounding system's configuration, and a declaration of conformity is issued if it is less than 10 Ω; for soils with a resistivity higher than 3000 Ω.m, additional grounding may be recommended in the report. The loop impedance method, the three-terminal comparison method, or the clamp grounding measurement method can be used. The minimum ground conductor thickness is 50 mm² for copper and 90 mm² for steel.TS EN 62305-3 Clause 5.4.1
