How to Perform Portable Device Tests and Test Procedure

The answer to the question of how portable device tests are performed is a comprehensive protocol consisting of visual inspection and electrical testing. During the inspection, the external condition of the device is examined, followed by electrical measurements using a Fluke, Sonel, or Metrel PAT test device.

The PAT test periodic inspection interval is specified by the Occupational Health and Safety Law and the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment. According to the regulation, portable electrical devices must undergo a PAT test at least once a year, while devices performing critical tasks must undergo a PAT test every six months.

In electrical accidents caused by portable devices that have not undergone periodic inspections, the employer is held liable and faces severe penalties. Furthermore, insurance companies may refuse to pay compensation for accidents involving devices that lack a PAT (Processing Attendance) test report.
