Visual Inspection and Physical Examination

In the first stage, the physical condition of the fire extinguishing system components is examined in detail. The integrity of the water tank, the condition of rust, the level of sedimentation, and the condition of the cover are checked. In the pumping station, the motor, pump housing, fittings, suction and discharge pipes are inspected. Pressure gauges, manometers, and flow meters are checked.

In fire hydrant systems, corrosion and leak checks are performed on the pipelines. Hydrant heads, flange connections, and cover mechanisms are inspected. In fire hose cabinets, the condition of the hoses, outer covers, and plates are checked.

Sprinkler System Periodic Inspection TS EN 12845

Sprinkler system periodic inspections are carried out according to the TS EN 12845 standard. In the first stage, sprinkler heads are tested by visual inspection; rust, deformation, and tube hardness are checked. The performance characteristics of the sprinkler heads, thermal triggering temperature, and protection area adequacy are verified.

Water flow rate measurement tests whether the system pump can deliver the flow rate considered during design. Pressure measurements verify that the system pressure meets the specifications in the project. Alarm tests and fire extinguishing valve operations are also performed.

Fire Pump Flow Pressure Test

Fire pump flow pressure testing is a critical test that determines whether the pump can deliver its nominal flow and pressure values. The pump curve is created by testing the pump under various flow and pressure combinations. Insulation resistance, motor, and pump mechanism are also checked.

The motor starting current and operating current are measured; overloads are detected. The pump housing and suction and discharge pipes are checked under pressure; if any leaks are observed, the pump must be repaired.

Fire Cabinets TS EN 671 Standard

Fire cabinets must comply with TS EN 671-1 (semi-rigid hose) or TS EN 671-2 (flat hose) standards. During periodic inspections, the cabinets are tested for openability, hose winding status, and the functionality of the opening and closing lance.
Hose pressure and flow rate are measured; it is verified that they comply with the design specifications. Colored markings, warning signs, and the safety of the cabinet being closed are checked. The effectiveness and expiration date of any fire extinguishers (such as a 6kg ABC cylinder) that may be inside the cabinet are checked.

Fire Installation Systems: Legal Requirements and Occupational Safety

Fire extinguishing systems are a legal requirement stemming from the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331. The responsibility for the maintenance and periodic inspection of fire extinguishing systems rests with the building owner, manager, or a person to whom responsibility has been delegated in writing.

A fire caused by a malfunctioning or deactivated fire extinguishing system can result in loss of life; this places significant responsibility on the employer. Insurance policies also require periodic inspections; failure to conduct these inspections will result in no insurance compensation being paid.

Reports prepared by unauthorized individuals are not accepted in Ministry of Labor inspections, local government inspections, licensing processes, and insurance claim applications.
