NFPA 70E compliance is a comprehensive compliance process that includes risk assessment, training, auditing, and improvement steps to determine whether an organization's electrical systems and operating procedures comply with the safety requirements specified in the NFPA 70E standard.

NFPA 70E is an American standard that standardizes the working environment, equipment used, training level, and procedures for electricians to minimize the risks of electric shock, arc explosion, and burns. According to NFPA 70E risk assessment, the person who determines the hazard level for each operational task (cable cutting, panel opening, maintenance, etc.) is defined as a "qualified person".

This expert determines the appropriate hazard risk category (0, 1, 2, 3, 4) for the relevant job and applies the minimum personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements corresponding to each category. Hazard Category 0 generally refers to situations where there is no electrical hazard, such as working below 50 volts; while Category 1 requires the use of PPE at a protection level of 4 cal/cm², Category 2 at 8 cal/cm², Category 3 at 25 cal/cm², and Category 4 at 40 cal/cm². Choosing the wrong category can lead to serious injuries in arc flash incidents and directly place legal responsibility on the employer.

Risk assessment is the process of identifying all hazards (arc flash, electric shock, burns) present in an electrical system and determining the PPE requirements corresponding to each risk category. Risk categories (HRC 1-4) are defined, and minimum protection levels are specified for each category.

Electrical safety compliance audit is the inspection of a facility's electrical system, relays, protective devices, labeling, and operational procedures to ensure compliance with NFPA 70E requirements.
