EKED-LOTO Training and Consulting
EDEC (Tag, Lock, Secure, Control), or hazardous energy control, is a safety procedure that ensures hazardous machinery and energy sources are properly shut down to prevent unexpected starting during maintenance or service work.
EUROSTAT (Avrupa Birliği İstatistik Kurumu) istatistiklerine göre kazaların 15-20% ‘si, ölümcül kazaların %10 -%15’i bakım/onarım süreçlerinde meydana gelmektedir. Türkiye’de her yıl ortalama 1500 ölümlü iş kazası olması, bakım onarım esnasında her yıl yüzlerce ölümlü iş kazası yaşandığını göstermektedir.
Employers, maintenance and repair personnel, relevant managers, employees who do not use the equipment, and occupational safety specialists who fail to provide lockout/tagout equipment to control energy during maintenance and repair, fail to ensure that employees receive the necessary training on its use, and fail to inform the employer that an LPG/tagout system needs to be installed will be held at fault in the event of a possible accident.
According to national and international regulations, the use of hazardous energy isolation, i.e., lockout/tagout equipment, is mandatory when working on energized power lines.
The LDC (Learning, Environment, and Environment) procedure, a crucial element of a sustainable system, should be applied in the areas of maintenance, operation, assembly, modification, disassembly, adjustment, inspection, lubrication, and cleaning.

What is EKED / LOTO (Power Cut-off and Labeling)?
LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), or EKED (Energy Cut-off and Tagout System) in Turkish, is an energy isolation system that prevents unexpected energization of machinery and equipment during maintenance, repair, or cleaning work. Its purpose is to protect workers from hazardous energy sources (electrical, pressure, mechanical, chemical).
Scope and Components
- Determining energy isolation points.
- Preparing machine-specific LOTO procedures.
- Supply and implementation of lock & tag systems.
- Training of authorized and affected employees
- Periodic inspection and improvement
Why is it Mandatory and Vital?
Occupational health and safety legislation mandates energy isolation in environments where hazardous energy sources are handled. A properly installed LOTO/EKED system directly prevents some of the most fatal workplace accidents during maintenance. AES Innovation offers end-to-end LOTO/EKED solutions, from procedure preparation and equipment procurement to training and inspection.
