UPS Periodic Inspection Service | AES Innovation

Uninterruptible power supplies play a vital role in protecting critical systems. However... UPS control Improperly installed equipment can lead to sudden malfunctions, fire risks, and workplace safety violations. UPS periodic check, This is both a legal requirement and an essential safety assurance for the operational continuity of your facility.

UPS inspection, This is the process of comprehensively evaluating the technical safety, performance, and regulatory compliance of uninterruptible power supplies by an authorized inspection body. During this process, the electrical integrity of the device, battery capacity, protection systems, and installation conditions are examined.
The inspection is not just a technical check; it also serves as documentation of the facility's insurance validity, compliance with occupational safety regulations, and legal protection in potential workplace accident investigations.

What is UPS Inspection?

Legal Requirement: Mandatory Periodic Inspection of UPS Systems in the Workplace

Mandatory periodic inspection of UPS at the workplace. The obligation is regulated within the framework of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, the Regulation on Health and Safety Measures to be Taken in Workplace Buildings and Annexes, and the relevant technical legislation regarding electrical installations.
Employers are legally responsible for maintaining the safe operation of electrical power systems. This includes UPS systems, which are subject to periodic inspections, and these inspections must be carried out by authorized organizations.

WHY AES INNOVATION?

UPS Device Periodic Inspection Period

UPS devices periodic inspection period, This varies depending on the device's power, the operating environment, and the technical standards it is subject to. The general practice is as follows:
Critical infrastructure facilities (data center, hospital, manufacturing): Once a year
medium-sized businesses: Every 1-2 years
Heavy industrial environmentsMore frequently, based on risk assessment.
Failure to meet periodic inspection deadlines may result in administrative penalties, insurance cancellation, and employer liability in the event of workplace accidents.

Batteries: The Weakest Link in a UPS System

The reliability of a UPS system largely depends on its batteries, which are the shortest-lived but most critical component of the system. Even a single weak cell in the battery bank can reduce the backup capacity of the entire bank. The condition of the batteries is not externally apparent during normal UPS operation; their true capacity only becomes apparent during a power outage. Therefore, during periodic checks, the battery's internal resistance, voltage, and, if necessary, discharge tests are performed to measure the true health of the batteries.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a UPS battery be checked?

Regular (periodic) internal resistance/voltage measurements are recommended; batteries are typically replaced after a certain lifespan.

The UPS appears to be working, but should I still test it?

Yes; battery capacity cannot be determined during normal operation, it can only be revealed through testing.

How to verify the backup time?

The actual backup time is measured by discharge/autonomy testing under load.
