The standard mandates specific withstand requirements for construction site electrical distribution panels (ACS), ensuring maximum protection for personnel against leakage currents. What is checked at construction site facilities?

  • Inspection of Main Distribution and Field Panels:
    The locking mechanisms of site-specific panels, their insulation ratings against dust and rain (IP protection), and the circuit breakers integrated into the sockets are evaluated mechanically.
  • RCD and Overload Protection Measurements:
    AC where personnel connect equipment. Plug-socket circuits with a current rating of <= 32A are tested with residual current protection devices having a characteristic of ≤ 30mA.
  • Analysis of Mobile Cables and Impact Protection:
    Insulation tests are performed on temporary conductor lines, piping systems, and flexible cables that may be exposed to vehicle traffic and heavy objects at the construction site.
  • Temporary Grounding Network Resistance Check:
    Modular construction site grounding systems, installed in soil that is constantly being excavated and altered, are precisely measured using a megger to identify and repair any disruptions to their operation.

Considering the challenging mechanical conditions and site dynamics, and based on expert reports and the size of the construction site, regular testing is mandated at least once a year by regulations; however, it is recommended that portable equipment such as power outlets and 30 mA RCD components undergo regular monthly testing.

Absolutely not. The covers of the construction site switchboards (ACS) must provide airtightness suitable for outdoor conditions (minimum IP44). Internal barriers are in place to ensure that even if the cover is opened, there is no contact between the main switch and the active phase busbars with fingers or tools.

Individual tools such as drills, hammers, breakers, concrete mixers, etc., should only be connected to the mains via industrial-grade covered sockets with Type A RCD protection that meet construction site standards; heavy-duty cable sheaths with flexible rubber insulation should be preferred.
