According to the Regulation on Health and Safety Requirements in the Use of Work Equipment, all lifting and conveying equipment heavily used in industrial and construction sites must be inspected at least once a year by expert mechanical engineers. What is inspected in lifting equipment?

  • Hook Crack Analysis and Rope Wire Deformation:
    Fiber breaks in steel slings and lifting ropes, or invisible capillary (NDT Non-Destructive Testing) metal fatigue in the hook, are observed.
  • Overload and Audible/Visual Warning Circuits:
    The tonnage limiter is checked to ensure it has been strained, the lifting safety relay has stopped, and the warning limits of the tower movement and approach sensors, as well as the final limit switches, are also examined.
  • Dynamic Load Resistance and Cruise Test:

  • Corrosion, Weld and Body Joint Inspection:

Yes, regardless of whether it's 100 kg or 100 tons, pallet trucks, forklifts, or vehicle lifts that lift or move a load vertically in a workplace are subject to the same regulations.

In static testing (usually 1.5 times the capacity), the load is suspended in the air and held motionless to check if the frame/cable breaks or bends. In dynamic loading (e.g., 1.25 times the capacity), the crane is moved while the load is suspended in the air, and the mechanics of the brakes are tested.

In the list of Major and Minor Defects, the absence of a hook tongue that prevents the sling from slipping is listed as a 'Major Defect'; and the report will be approved as Negative unless a new one is installed by welding/pinning.

If our expert determines that the equipment is defective and poses a significant risk, the report will state 'Unsafe,' however, the legal right to seal or impound the equipment belongs to the inspectors of the Turkish Ministry of Labor. The company is legally obligated to keep the equipment in place until the defect is corrected.
