The IEC 60364-7-701 standard specifies restrictions on electrical installations in bathroom and washroom areas containing bathtubs and showers. Wet areas are among the places with the highest risk of electric shock due to high humidity, water contact, and bare skin. The standard classifies the area around bathtubs and showers as Zone 0 (inside the bathtub), Zone 1 (above and around the bathtub), and Zone 2 (within 0.6 meters).
