What does a street, tunnel, and park lighting system test include?

  • Lighting Unit Grounding (TT Line) and Resistor:
    All galvanized pole structures are tested with millimeter precision using a megger resistance reader to connect to the mains protective PE line or ground earthing via the connection terminal points.
  • Terminal Cover, Sealing and IP Verification:
    The terminal and locking area inside the pole's bottom cover are inspected for accessibility by hands, foreign objects, or excessive water, meeting a minimum IP33 or IP44 rating for panels.
  • Resistance to External Impacts (IK Class):
    In areas exposed to collisions with motor vehicles or personnel, fixture components are evaluated for compliance with the mechanical deterioration coefficient test protection standard.
  • Residual Current (RCC) Protective Relay Functionality:
    On-site, it is connected to the main connection line of the circuit group that distributes the street pole line or establishes panel automation, and it has an instant circuit breaker tripping function. Equipment performance is checked at <30mA.

Yes! Since outdoor lighting equipment will be exposed to contact with public and civilian personnel, the circuit will be switched off from the panel. It must be ensured that the circuit is cut off with a leakage rate of <30mA, i.e., at the life threshold value at the point of contact with a human.

The insulation level on the line from the main distribution panel to the terminal on the pole is verified underground using our specialized megger measuring tools and high-current testing.

According to the IEC 60364-7-714 standard and urban regulations, the terminal block lock cover and lighting fixture must have complete resistance to water and splashes (minimum IP3X, preferably IPX4) in their locking mechanisms.

The standard principle is subject to the same tests, but it is strongly recommended that areas such as on-site playgrounds (landscape lines where direct civilian contact is highest, etc.) be reinforced to a minimum shock safety level, preferably using SELV systems.
