What is LOTO / EKED?
Why is it necessary?
LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), also known in Turkish as Kilitleme/Etiketleme, is a safety procedure that mandates the physical isolation and locking of energy sources (electrical, pressure, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, chemical, thermal) of equipment during maintenance/repair. In Türkiye, employers are subject to explicit obligations regarding energy isolation under the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 and the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment, while internationally, OSHA 1910.147 and IEC 60364 standards are referenced.
