In this article, we summarize what has changed and the critical points from an examination perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a prosumer (producing-consuming) plant?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prosumer electrical installations (PEI) measure consumption in addition to electricity consumption. <strong>local production and\/or storage<\/strong> It is a low-voltage electrical installation containing various components. Typical components include: rooftop\/facade solar power systems, battery energy storage systems (BES), electric vehicle charging units, and demand-response and load-source management. In these installations, energy is not unidirectional. <strong>bidirectional<\/strong> This makes the protection and grounding configuration different from classic consumer installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What has changed with IEC 60364-8-82:2026?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><strong>Renumbering:<\/strong> Former <strong>IEC 60364-8-2:2018<\/strong>, In accordance with the updated numbering system of the IEC 60364 series (compliant with Part 7) <strong>IEC 60364-8-82<\/strong> It was renumbered accordingly. The content was technically revised.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>New DC update (AMD1, April 2026):<\/strong> With Amendment 1, <strong>PEIs with DC systems<\/strong> And a separate normative annex (Annex F) was added for distributed resources with isolated interconnect converters.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Clarifying the system grounding:<\/strong> The method by which the system grounding type changes when the plant&#039;s operating mode changes (connected to grid \u2194 island) was more clearly defined.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Network connection\/disconnection conditions:<\/strong> Connection and disconnection from the distribution network (DSO) were described in terms of both safety and proper operation.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Normative Annex for single dwellings (Annex D):<\/strong> Island-capable single-dwelling installations; including upgrading existing installations to island-capable PEI and initial verification.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operating modes: mains, island, and reverse feed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The standard addresses the different operating modes of the prosumer installation: <strong>grid-connected mode<\/strong> (Local production works in conjunction with the grid), <strong>island mode<\/strong> (the facility is disconnected from the grid and powered by its own resources) and <strong>reverse feeding<\/strong> (Releasing excess energy back into the grid). The critical point is this: when the mode changes, the system grounding (TN\/TT\/IT) may also change; for safe management of this transition, the system reference conductor switching scheme must be correctly designed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Protection and security requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IEC 60364-8-82 takes a holistic approach to protection in prosumer installations: <strong>protection against electric shock<\/strong>, <strong>protection against thermal effects<\/strong>, <strong>overcurrent protection<\/strong> And <strong>Protection against transient overvoltages<\/strong>.
